As the son of an Egyptian immigrant father and Irish American mother growing up in southeastern Pennsylvania, I spent a large portion of my life working at a 24-hour family owned diner under the ownership of my father and close family friend. Working at the family diner instilled in me a work ethic that I use to advocate on behalf of my clients and opened up my eyes to the struggles and needs of everyday Americans from all sorts of racial, ethnic, religious, and socio-economic backgrounds. 

I am proud to be part of Philadelphia's vibrant Muslim community and cherish my opportunity to serve as the Legal Director of the Philadelphia Chapter of the Council of American Islamic Relations (CAIR). Fighting on behalf of Muslim Americans is a main priority of mine because I understand the unique problems our community faces.
